The specialized workshop in Art collection Management is led by the S+A team—Ana Sokoloff, Anna Stein, and Catalina Acosta—is specifically designed for emerging art advisors, art collectors and collection managers who wish to learn and incorporate the highest standards and best practices of collection management into their projects.

  • Considerations for safely packing and shipping artworks domestically, internationally, road and air travels
  • Basics on US and International import and sale taxes

 

DAY 2

3) FUNDAMENTALS OF CATALOGUING A COLLECTION AND DATABASE MANAGEMENT with CATALINA ACOSTA

  • Aspects that contribute to a comprehensive cataloguing protocol for your collection
  • Types of database and software–pros, cons and musts
  • Documenting, archiving and researching a collection

 

4) INSURANCE, CONSIGNMENTS AND LOANS with ANNA STEIN

  • Important aspects to consider when finding the best insurance policy for your collection
  • Considerations when you consign your artwork with galleries
  • Best practices to evaluate art loans and negotiate agreements with exhibiting institutions

5) INSTALLATION, DISPLAY, AND STORAGE with ANA SOKOLOFF

  • Creating safe and comprehensive installation procedures
  • Securing a proper display environment for your artwork

  • During this final session participants will have the opportunity to share questions and/or concerns that stem from their own collections in relation to the topics discussed during this workshop
